This basic online paediatric first aid training childminders course is a level 2 course programme and is aimed at childminders & nursery staff.

This course is also suitable for school teachers & school support staff working with children & infants who would like to gain basic paediatric first aid knowledge.

This e-learning child care course is designed to give everyone who works with children, infants or young people a basic introduction to paediatric first aid and to give you the confidence to aid in an emergency situation.

E-learning course for childminders, what’s covered?

• • Is unresponsive and breathing
  • Is unresponsive and not breathing, including:
  • The chain of survival
  • The use of an automated external defibrillator (AED) on children
  • Is choking
  • Is bleeding
  • Is burnt or has a scald
  • Has an object in their eye, ear or nose
  • Has hypothermia or heat exhaustion
  • Has sickness or fever
  • Has a medical emergency, including:
    • Meningitis
    • Diabetic emergency
    • Seizures
    • Asthma attack, and
    • Severe allergic reaction (anaphylactic shock).
  • Has an injury to a bone muscle or joint (including spinal injuries)
  • Has a head injury, and
  • Has swallowed something harmful.

To meet the paediatric first aid training requirements of Ofsted you will be required to complete the classroom based 12 hour two day paediatric first aid training course.

On completion of this online course you will be required to complete an online assessment with a pass mark of 80%. If you do not pass on your first attempt, you do not have to worry, as you can re-take the test as many times as you need with no extra charge.
